A hundred years on, the Olympic Games return to Paris. Between (r)evolution, sadness or joy, retrace a century of sport in Paris.
Sport lover and fine connoisseur of Olympic history, Thierry Henryrevels in recounting the sporting history of a capital city that never gives up.
“Sport has often been there to bring people together, for a little moment of joy. I hope that people will learn a lot.”
What will it mean to you for the Olympic Games to be hosted in your home country and what are you most looking forward to?
“I hope that it will make the love that we have for the sport even stronger – and that it will inspire a lot of young people to try and recreate what they have seen on TV. And then, personally, I hope this will lead to even more medals!.”
The Olympics are known as the ‘greatest show on earth’ but what was your favourite moment from the Olympic Games over the years?
“It’s easy for me. Nobody is above Marie-José Pérec for me. No one. That’s only me talking. 400 and 200 in Atlanta ’96. When she managed to do that, for me, it was my greatest moment ever, by far.”
